a great mystery by Arckaya a great mystery by Arckaya
Not really. It's obviously Alfie.

B&W is still hard, so I decided to avoid the issue a bit an not have a doll face in the frame.

Still not sure if I will submit this to #Resin-Aperture, because I get the feeling that if I had the right light, I might be able to get a very atmospheric portrait. That would be preferable to this anonymous nonsense.

Alfie('s body) is a nobility emotional body.

Ah, love black and white shots! And the hands too they are very tender here...
This is apathy in his pose..

Mmm I am really enjoying the level of detail in textures and the variations in value here~ It makes me want to try harder to get shots that are more like this! <3

For once, having him wear those maddening striped pants was useful! BJDs themselves are so smooth and untextured that you really have to look elsewhere for that value contrast.

Thanks so much. <3

You made a great job with the B&W settings =) Sure it's not easy, but you surely managed to bring something with it =D

This is a wonderful photo, somehow there is just so much emotion in it. Great job!

Thanks so much! I'm glad there's emotional content to it; I was afraid that it wasn't emotional because there's no face in the frame.

You are too kind. <3

And I don't see why you wouldn't be qualified to give critique! Most people around here have been exposed to enough visual stimulus to have some way of expressing their aesthetic preferences.

well. i really like all of the different textures. and the vertical and horizontal lines that stand out so much. it's a pinch dark, but that's just me, personally. black and white photography is so hard to do and get right without it looking like you just took a colored shot and desaturated it, so i always get a bit giddy when i see photographs like this one, that almost look like you took it with an old film camera.

my one nettle is that i wish his far hand was a bit more down on his leg. it's position looks unnatural to me, like he was just starting or ending a movement when the picture was snapped. his near hand is brilliant, though :D

Lately my camera has been seriously underexposing things while in aperture priority mode, so I've been shooting in manual and honestly I don't know what I'm doing when I set the shutter speed. It's good to get some feedback on my dubious exposure skills! I have a tendency to make things look too dark.

I don't much like the position of his far hand either. :/ I don't want to blame it on the physical limitations of the doll, but Alfie's arms are really finicky and I couldn't get the far arm to stay how I wanted it to.

Thank you for taking the time to do this! I really enjoy getting feedback. <3

well, dark is sometimes good! i like dark photography. you just miss some of the texture (i have this problem too, no worries x_x)

and... yeah, the an's posing is so finicky that i tend to have to elastic him in place? heh. silly thing.

and you're very welcome! :3 <3
