Description
Art project from school. The theme was "art side out" (god, what a stupid theme, but it was for a K-12 art show, and I guess the kiddies love it or something). Also, the lighting at the art show was really, really crappy, so I will eventually replace these images with better ones.
A number of things really bother me about this, but mainly my use of purple. It was not meant to dominate the figure, but I let it overpower everything. And the light source is all over the place. There's also a lot of empty space on the right that's not really doing anything for the piece. And uh, yeah. Still don't really know how to draw/paint people.
The concept was basically "melting boobies!!!111". Not much to say there. This was done in acrylic. I still hate acrylic, but forcing myself to work with it has made it more tolerable. I made the hands out of acrylic gesso over a tin foil armature. For the boobs, I cut into the canvas and placed inflated rubber gloves underneath, and dripped melted beeswax over them. I would have liked to have more control with the beeswax, but it was very runny when in liquid form.
In any case, I hope there is some "ew" factor to the boobs. If I had more time I would have tried to unify the hands/boobs with the rest of the painting more. The textural inconsistencies between the two bother me.

Wow, I actually love it!
The colours are great and the idea with the hands and the wax is just perfect!
